- We recognize that although people have common life needs, each person and family has unique needs, and supports will respond in a manner which recognizes that individuality;
- There must be an emphasis on empowerment, encouraging families to be actively involved in support systems for their child or adult and encouraging families to support each other;
- We will encourage and support individuals and their family to explore options, exercise choices and to make the decisions that affect their lives;
- Individuals and families will be supported in their decisions to take advantage of new opportunities and experiences within reasonable expectations of risk;
- The development and maintenance of personal relationships are important for personal satisfaction and fulfilment of all individuals, and our efforts will recognize and support this.
